Northside Veterinary Clinic
offers the best in both complementary and standard treatments for the
health and wellbeing of animals,
and opens the door for a positive
relationship between caretakers and their pets.
Dr. Daniel Leiman, DVM, along with
Dr. Barbara Eisner, is
the founder and owner of the
Northside Veterinary Clinic.
Although he grew up in
Elmont NY with dogs and cats as
beloved family
pets, Dr. Leiman did not develop a passion
to be
a veterinarian until his undergraduate years at
Duke University.
After graduating Summa Cum Laude
from Duke,
Dr. Leiman
was admitted to the
Cornell College of Veterinary
Medicine.
He graduated Cornell Vet School with honors in 1981.
After working in Amish country in Bloomsburg,
PA for
2 years at a
mixed animal practice,
Dr. Leiman returned to NYC,
where
he did a 2
year internship at the Henry Bergh Memorial Hospital.
After working at
the Queens Veterinary Emergency Clinic and other small
animal
practices for a few years, Dr. Leiman began his own housecall
practice.
The housecall practice grew so quickly that
Dr. Leiman needed
to set
up a place where people could come to see
him as well.
With his wife,
Dr. Barbara Eisner, the Northside
Veterinary
Clinic was
founded in 1997
at 233 Berry Street. Although Dr. Leiman still
makes
housecalls, the
majority of his time is spent practicing medicine,
surgery and
dentistry
at Northside.
Outside of work, Dr. Leiman enjoys playing racquetball,
playing bagpipes,
rooting for the Yankees and keeping his pitbull on a short leash.

Dr. Barbara Eisner, DVM CVA, graduated
college as
a chemist and worked both for Lever
Brothers and
General Foods for a number of
years before applying
to vet school.
It was no surprise that she gave up
chemistry
to become a veterinarian as helping
animals had
always been her true passion.
Dr. Eisner graduated from the University of
Pisa, Italy
and worked for other vets before
forming the
Northside Veterinary Clinic with her
husband,
Dr. Daniel Leiman.
She obtained
certification in
Veterinary Acupuncture from the International
Veterinary Acupuncture Society in 1998 and is a member of the American
Academy of Veterinary Acupuncture. Dr Eisner did much of her equine
acupuncture internship
at Belmont Race track and her small animal
internship with
International Veterinary Acupuncture Society instructors.
She also trained in Chinese Herbal Medicine at Tufts
University and has
taken numerous courses in Chinese and Western Herbal
Medicine.
Dr. Eisner likes to ride horses and practices martial arts
in her spare time.
Dr. Eric Mondschein, DVM grew up in
Miami Beach, Florida.
He attended undergraduate school at the University of
Florida where he received a
Bachelor of Science in
animal science as well
as wildlife ecology and
conservation.
Dr. Mondschein received his Doctorate
of Veterinary Medicine from Tufts University
College of
Veterinary Medicine in 2007.
He also received a
Master in Public Health from
Tufts University College
of Medicine. Dr. Mondschein’s interests
include
emergency and critical
medicine,
public health,
and emergency
preparedness
for animals.
He currently practices veterinary medicine
in New York City where he
lives
with his wife, Wendy, and orange cat,
George.
Erica Harmon, Licensed Veterinary
Technician,
earned her
Associates in
Applied Science and
is a 2011 graduate
of the
LaGuardia
Veterinary
Technology
program.
She also received a Bachelor of Arts in
Photography from the University of Delaware
in 2003. Although the arts
remain close to her
heart, she is happy to have settled into a
career
which fullfills her true passion:
making a positive difference in the
lives of animals and their human companions.
She grew up in northern
NJ with two horses,
a dog and a cat, all of whom were crucial to her
understanding of
just how important the human-animal bond can be. When
she is not busy at work loving everyone else's pets, she enjoys
spending time with her husband and their three kitty-sons: Hossifer
Jones, Apache, and Sky Jr. She is also a musician, and can be seen
playing around town with her band The Party Faithful.
Agnieszka Medina Sanchez, Veterinary Technician, graduated from the August
Cieszkowski Memorial
Poznan Agricultural
University at Poznan, Poland in
2004, with
Master's and Engineer degrees in Animal
Science and Animal Breeding.
Agnieszka came from Poland and before coming
to
the United States she worked as a veterinary
technician with large animals for four years.
Recently, Agnieszka graduated from Cedar Valley
College with A.S. degree in Veterinary Technology.
Her professional interests include Surgery, Dentistry,
Radiology,
and Emergency Medicine.
In her free time she enjoys good books, movies, cooking,
and a very
long walks around NYC with her husband.
Ginger Hughes is our practice manager.
She grew up in Rockland county, so nature and
the outdoors were always a big part of her life. She started working at a veterinary clinic when
she was still in High School and hasn’t looked back. Here at Northside, her special interests include nutrition, alternative medicine and
client education. Ginger is also an avid runner, occasionally boxes at the gym and is quite the chef! She lives in Queens with her husband John and their son Cameron.

Diana Viteri, Technician, is our special
"cat whisperer". Her touch seems to calm down
even the most agitated felines.
( We are convinced
that Diana was a cat in a
past
life).
In this life, she is a veterinary
assistant at
Northside, having one year to go in
the Mercy College
Vet Tech Program. Diana has
an associates degree in
Liberal Arts from BMCC
and
an B. S. in business
management from
Dowling College.
She has done lots of cat rescues
and has worked
hard to
find homes for all
of them.
She was a volunteer and a veterinary assistant for years at the
North Shore Animal League as well as other animal hospitals.
She brings a wealth of experience to Northside Veterinary Clinic and
we are lucky to have her on board.
Diana speaks Spanish fluently,
shoots pool and practices Ninjitsu in her spare time.
When she is not nurturing a sick kitty back to health, you can find Diana
having a cookie on her break time.
Jeannie Vasquezi is a client care
coordinator/ receptionist at Northside.
She joined Northside in february 2008 and
has a great love for your furry little
friends. Helping pets and
their owners is her main priority.
When jeannie is not at work she enjoys
spending time with her son, husband
and 3
kittys; lili buni and dwight schrute.
